Run Vibes summary

AI-assisted

At a glance (AI-assisted text)

Kick off the Halfway Crooks Kölsch Fest with a unique 5K fun run, completing five 1K loops, each earning you a traditional Kölsch beer in the Biergarten.

The vibe (AI-assisted text)

This event is all about celebrating Kölsch Fest with a fun, social twist on a 5K. Expect a relaxed atmosphere where the emphasis is on enjoying the unique running format and the delicious reward afterward. Runners and walkers looking for a festive experience, rather than a PR, will feel right at home. It's a celebration of German beer culture blended with a casual run.

Best for (AI-assisted text)

This event is perfect for runners and walkers who love craft beer, especially Kölsch, and are looking for a highly social and unique race experience. It's ideal for those who prioritize fun and post-race camaraderie over speed, and appreciate a quirky format tied to a cultural celebration.

Race day (AI-assisted text)

Race day kicks off with waves starting at 10:30 AM, featuring a unique format of five 1K routes. After each 1K, you'll earn a 20cl pour of Farina Kölsch, redeemable in the HC Biergarten post-run. Your race bib doubles as your first 'coaster' for tallying your beers, mirroring traditional Cologne service. Expect a lively, celebratory atmosphere focused on the beer and the social experience rather than competitive times.

Personality (AI-assisted text)

The personality of this event is distinctly festive and lighthearted, infused with authentic German tradition. It's a friendly gathering where the reward of a perfectly served Kölsch is as much a motivator as the run itself. The atmosphere will be jovial and communal, making it feel more like a party with a run attached.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Atlanta in April typically offers pleasant spring weather, with mild temperatures that are generally comfortable for running. However, runners should be prepared for potential variations, including warmer days or occasional spring showers. It's wise to check the forecast closer to the date.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

Given it's a 'fun run' associated with a brewery and a 'Biergarten', the course is likely to be relatively flat and on paved surfaces. The description of 'five 1k routes' suggests a contained loop, possibly around the brewery or a nearby park/urban area. Expect an easygoing, non-technical running surface.

Kick off the 2026 Halfway Crooks Kölsch Fest with the Halfway Crooks 5 K's for Kölsch:

Saturday, April 18th - First wave starts at 10:30am! Our 5k fun run will consist of FIVE 1k routes. Each 1k represents one 20cl pour of Farina you will be able to enjoy directly after your run/walk in the HC Biergarten served in the traditional way of Cologne, Germany.

Halfway Crooks Kölsch Fest:

Halfway Crooks Kölsch Fest is a celebration of Kölsch taking place Saturday and Sunday April 18th & 19th in the HC Biergarten. We will have Kölsch flowing freely served tableside, in the traditional way, all weekend long! The featured beer is Farina, our beloved Top Fermenting Lager.

History of Kölsch Service:

In Cologne, Germany Kölsch is traditionally served in a tall, thin, cylindrical 20 centiliter (6.8 US fl oz) glass called a Stange ("pole" or "rod"). The server, called a Köbes, carries eleven or twelve Stangen in a Kranz ("wreath"), a circular tray resembling a crown or wreath. Instead of waiting for the drinker to order a refill, the Köbes immediately replace an empty Stange with a full one, marking a tick on the coaster under the Stange. If the drinker does not want another refill, he or she places the coaster on top of the empty Stange and pays for the number of beers marked on the coaster.

Registration Details:

Saturday, April 18th at 10:30AM - Early Registration $21 until March 17th, $25 March 18th - April 12th, Week of event - $28 or until sold out.

'5k' or (5) - 1k's. For each "1k" you earn a 20cl Farina to redeem after the race with your race bib. The bib will represent your first “coaster” for tallying your kölsch. We recommend a refreshment directly following your race, but should you want to reserve it for later you can redeem anytime during the festival hours in the biergarten (please note you will not be able to redeem after the conclusion of the Kölsch Fest on April 13th.)
