Johnson County Park & Recreation District is proud to present our youth triathlon team: TRI913. We are excited to have the ability to offer an inclusive program that will develop character both mentally and physically through fun, educational, and community focused curriculum. At TRI913, our mission is simple: To inspire and empower youth of all ages to believe in themselves and recognize that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Through the sport of triathlon, we aim to build confidence, perseverance, and teamwork, helping each athlete realize their full potential—both in and out of the race. Whether they're taking their first steps into the sport or competing at a high level, we’re here to support them every step of the way! We believe that by fostering a strong, positive mindset, our athletes can break through any barriers and unlock their greatest achievements. Together, we’re not just training for races—we’re building character, leadership, and a lasting belief that anything is possible!

Whether your kiddo has been doing triathlon all their life or just wants to learn what the sport is all about, we've got a spot for them in the pack!

Meet the Coaches!

Coach Josh has been coaching kids for 7 years and adults for over 15 years! Overseeing the adult Wolfpack Tri Team, he has incredible knowledge and expertise with inspiring athletes to achieve what they once thought was impossible. A big kid at heart, Coach Josh loves to work with kids! He’s helped coach the JCPRD Kids Tri Camp for 5 years and running, sits on the board for the JCPRD Kids Triathlon, and is highly involved in triathlon community. A 4-time Ultra Cycling World Record holder and 6-time Ironman Kona Qualifier, he also has street cred and knowledge about what it takes to compete at a high level. With a degree in Kinesiology, multiple certifications and experience, he has a strong educational background as well. We are excited to have him help coach our TRI913 Youth Tri Team!

Coach Katy has been with Johnson County Park & Recreation District for close to 9 years as the Race Director for all their multisport events as well as working with the Kansas City Corporate Challenge to facilitate their big race events. During her time with JCPRD, her favorite event has been the Kids Triathlon and the Kids Tri Camp, so it was a no-brainer to start a competitive youth tri team and have her be a part of it. As an athlete herself, she understands the benefits of being part of a team and is excited to bring her knowledge of the sport and her passion for developing youth to the TRI913 Youth Tri Team!
