Race start and finish behind the Carterville Community Center
Join us for the 2nd annual Sundown Showdown. Race start and finish behind the Carterville Community Center. This event resembles a high school-style cross country meet, using standard scoring and a 5K course. This is a team event, with 3-5 runners per team. (3 scoring runners per team) If you don't have a team or enough people to make an entire team, we will help you on race day to put a team together. You can run the race solo, if you prefer. You can expect mostly grass with a little gravel and paved path in the mix.
Awards for the top 20 female and male runners as well as top team in each division (Male, Female, and Mixed).
Team scores are calculated by adding up the finishing positions of the top five runners on each team. Each runner earns points based on their finishing place (1 point for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, and so on). The total points for the team's top three runners are summed, and the team with the lowest total score wins.
