Race day (AI-assisted text)

Given the endurance format, race day will likely have a focused, yet supportive atmosphere. Packet pickup will probably be streamlined, with participants eager to get started on their vertical journey. The focus will be on personal pacing and consistent effort, with a strong sense of camaraderie among those tackling the challenging terrain for a good cause.

The event's personality is one of purposeful grit and environmental advocacy. Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Winter in Issaquah, WA, typically means cool, damp, and potentially rainy conditions. Runners should prepare for temperatures ranging from chilly to mild, with a good chance of precipitation. The trails could be wet and muddy, adding to the challenge, but also offering a classic Pacific Northwest trail experience.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

As a trail race on Tiger Mountain, expect significant elevation gain and loss over technical, natural terrain. The course will likely feature dirt paths, roots, rocks, and potentially some muddy sections, especially given the winter timing. Runners will be repeatedly climbing and descending the mountain, making for a demanding vertical challenge.

Join us for a thrilling 12, 6, or 3-hour endurance challenge on the stunning Tiger Mountain in Issaquah, Washington. But this event is about more than just pushing your limits - it's about raising awareness for climate change and supporting Washington Conservation Action.

Why a winter event? Because winter is when pollutants are on the rise due to wood burning heat and long periods of car warming. It's not just unhealthy air in the Pacific Northwest during this season; we also face yearly forest fires that further pollute our air during the summer months.

By participating in Running Up For Air - Tiger Mountain, you're not only conquering the mountain but also taking a stand for the need of clean air. Together, we can make a difference and protect our environment.

So lace up your running shoes, rally your team, and join us on this extraordinary journey towards cleaner air and a brighter future! Sign up today for Running Up For Air - Tiger Mountain!

Participants will ascend Tiger Mountain and attempt to summit the mountain as many times as possible to raise awareness and money to address air quality issues affecting the Pacific Northwest. Participants are encouraged to gather pledges for each lap completed up the mountain.

Location:

Start/Finish area is at Clark Elementary School. Each loop is 8 miles with 3,000+ feet of vert. We will have a warming tent, aid station with warm food, beverages and participant canopy area at the Start/Finish area, along with limited water and aid at the West Tiger 1 Hiker's Hut.
