From the organizer

Get ready for a morning of movement, community, and celebration at the 2026 Pura Vida 5K Fun Run/Walk!

Hosted by the Wood Dale School District 7 Wellness Committee, this event was created to promote health, fitness, and an active lifestyle for our students, families, staff, and community members. Whether you’re a competitive runner, casual jogger, or family walker — this event is for YOU!  We’re excited to partner with the City of Wood Dale’s Prairie Fest, the community’s summer festival featuring food trucks, carnival rides, live music, and more!

All students who participate in the Pura Vida 5K will receive a wristband for unlimited carnival rides on Sunday, June 21, 2026!

Start your morning with a 5K and spend the rest of the day celebrating at Prairie Fest!

This year’s event falls on Father’s Day, making it the perfect opportunity to run with Dad, walk with Grandpa, celebrate together as a family, and start a new healthy tradition. There’s no better way to honor the dads and father figures in our lives than by coming together as a community and staying active together.

This event is an officially timed 5K and is designed to be family-friendly and open to participants of all ages. Participants who register by the early registration deadline will receive an official Pura Vida 5K event T-shirt.  Be sure to register early to guarantee your shirt!  The 5K course will take participants on a scenic route around Salt Creek Marsh and the Wood Dale/Itasca Reservoir, offering beautiful natural views throughout the run or walk. The race will begin at 300 Bauman Court in Wood Dale, Illinois, and will start promptly at 9:00 AM.

Pura Vida” means pure life — living with positivity, wellness, and gratitude. That spirit is exactly what this event represents. We invite you to lace up your shoes, bring your family, and join us for a morning of movement and celebration.

We will only cancel if our venue requires cancellation. Due to the time required for permitting we are not typically able to reschedule. If cancellation is necessary we will transfer everyone to virtual!
