Percival's Island Firecracker 5 Mile Race

Celebrate Independence Day with a 5 mile race! Lynchburg is known as the "Hill City"....but this course is flat, flat, flat. The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival's Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway...a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance. This is also the 9th race in the Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series.

REGISTRATION: $30 (thru - June 30, 2026) $35 (July 1st  - July 4, 2026)

Please note that after carefully researching the recommendations of the Cleveland Clinic and guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America pertaining to healthy ages for youth participation in road races, this event is limited to those age 9 and older.

PAPER REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS EVENT

Registration fees are non-transferable & non-refundable. An entry can only be used for the person registered for the entry. Entries cannot be deferred to the following year or a future event.

THERE IS NO POST RACE T-SHIRT PICKUP

Lynchburg Road Runners Club Member Discount : A $5.00 discount is available to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members. Discounts will not be given after Wednesday June 18th. Participant membership must be current with LRRC membership roster found on RunSignUp on race day. Discount will be given at checkout automatically. Refunds and discounts will not be given after completing online race registration.

Assisted Participants: We are pleased to provide an opportunity for assisted participants to enjoy race day. An assisted participant is typically being pushed in a stroller "appropriate" for the event (ie.. hand break, tether, appropriate wheels). Both the participant being pushed and the pusher are required to register for this event. Assisted participants will start prior to the start and be ranked separately from the event. Both the pusher and assisted participant should indicate this classification during the registration process for our planning purposes.

AWARDS: Top 3 Overall M/F, Top Overall Masters M/F, Top 3 M/F in each age group. All awards will be ranked on "chip" time. *This is a Chip timed event, Disposable MyLaps Race Bib Technology will be used.

Age Groups: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69,  70-74, 75 & Up Age Group ranking based on "chip" time.

Award Pickup: Awards will be available for pickup at Riverside Runners Tuesday July 7, 2026 12-6pm. Awards will not be mailed.

COURSE:  Start / Finish Percival’s Island Nature Trail, 1600 Concord Turnpike (Downtown Lynchburg). Flat, paved, Shaded, out & back
