Join the seventh grade class of Beekmantown Middle School and North Country Honor Flight in recognizing our local veterans on Saturday, May 16, 2026! Be part of the Honor Flight’s first spring send-off ceremony and start the sendoff season with this year’s Honor Run 5K & 1 Mile US Oval Walk! The Honor Flight will leave Plattsburgh immediately following the ceremony, and our runners/walkers will join the veterans for a portion of their parade route. Participants will run alongside the motorcade—an unforgettable experience!
Come out and help us show our community’s appreciation for their service! Seventh grade students at Beekmantown Middle School orchestrated the planning and execution phases of this powerful community event, and all proceeds will benefit North Country Honor Flight. Dress in your most patriotic running apparel and be a part of this memorable race! If you have never witnessed an Honor Flight ceremony, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Register your kids for our children's Bike Brigade following the 1 mile walk around the Oval. The brigade is part of the Honor Flight escort, so make a pit stop at our patriotic bike decorating station to trick out your bikes and strollers!
The Honor Flight ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 a.m. The race will start at the conclusion of the ceremony at 8:00am. Check-in is 6:30am-7:30am on race day to allow runners the opportunity to observe the Honor Flight ceremony prior to the race if they wish. The advanced online registration fee for the 5K is $25 (18 and under)/$30 (18+) and day of $30(18 and under)/$35 (18+) on race day. Registration for the 1 Mile US Oval Walk is $25. There is no cost for kids 5 and under. Registration for the race includes a North Country Honor Run 5K & 1 Mile t-shirt (while supplies last). Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners and best dressed! Sign up today!
The seventh-graders involved in organizing this event are part of Beekmantown Middle School’s Project-Based Learning Team. Students are encouraged to develop project ideas that solve or address authentic community issues/causes. North Country Honor Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring local veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C. to visit our nation’s war memorials.
