From the organizer
The Mending Minds 5K and Fun Walk is to provide funding to further the mission of the Parenting for the Present Foundation. The Foundation was formed in 2020 to help create a healthier North Texas by providing high-quality mental health and educational services to underserved areas in our community. Thanks to our generous donors, last year’s Mending Minds 5K was a tremendous success. As we look ahead to October 4, 2025, we are raising our goals once again to expand our reach and impact even more children and families in need. Over the past year, our crisis team responded swiftly to the deadly floods in Central Texas, providing more than 150 hours of direct and indirect clinical support to children, parents, and the broader community. In the wake of such tragedy, the care we were able to offer was only possible because of your generosity. We also continue our vital work with The King’s Academy and St. Philip’s School and Community Center—both located in South Dallas. Through psychoeducational evaluations, therapeutic services, and teacher training, our clinicians have empowered faculty and families to understand and respond to their students' unique needs. These evaluations have led to targeted interventions that are making a real difference in the classroom and at home. Many of these cases are complex, reflecting not only learning challenges but also trauma and difficult living conditions. Your support also helps us sustain and grow the Parenting for the Present Podcast, which features a diverse range of experts offering free, accessible parenting insights and mental health guidance. It’s another way we strive to remove barriers to support and education.
