Travel through six ecosystems at Maywood on this 3-mile trail walk at Maywood and learn all about the birds that call Maywood home! Along the way you'll find information stations, activities, and more. Enjoy refreshments at the end. A shorter prairie loop will also be available for those wanting a flat route. Start your walk on Saturday, June 20 anytime between 9 am and 11:15 am. The course closes at 12:30pm. This walk is not timed and encourages you to enjoy nature along the way.

NEW FOR 2026: Open Door Bird Sanctuary will kick off our in-person walk with a presentation including live birds at 9am. From 10am-11am there will be time for a meet and greet with the birds.

Not able to join us for the in-person event? Support Maywood with your virtual participation! Choose your self-propelled activity, dates, and locations to complete your mileage goal anytime during the month of June.

Proceeds of the Walk on the Wild Side help Maywood provide environmental education programs and help build park improvements.
