From the organizer

Book It 5K — May 9, 2026 Monroeville Main Street is proud to present the Book It 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in downtown Monroeville. This signature event blends fitness, fun, and literary flair to celebrate our town’s identity as Alabama’s Literary Capital.

Participants of all levels are welcome to run or walk the course. In true Book It fashion, we’ll also host a costume contest—dress as your favorite literary character (bonus points if your costume honors a Monroe County or Alabama author). Awards will be given for fastest finishers and top costume.

After the race, stick around to join in the festivities: enjoy live music, games, storytelling, art displays, and community activities tied into our Second Saturday on the Square celebration. It’s a full day of entertainment, creativity, and hometown pride.
