From the organizer

Come join us on May 16, 2026 for the 21st Annual Laurie Wylie 5K. The Optimist Club of Hernando is incredibly proud of what the Laurie Wiley Memorial 5K has meant to so many over the past 20 years. The Optimist Club decided to add the A'Fair 5K to the A’Fair Arts and Crafts Festival with the assistance of Laurie Wylie, owner of a fitness center in Hernando. Laurie organized this event until her death in 2004 at which time the name was changed to the Laurie Wylie Memorial 5K Run. The Hernando Optimist Club believes in building a stronger future by investing in today’s youth and serving our community with purpose and optimism. This run represents our commitment to encouraging healthy lifestyles, positive leadership, and community connection.

Proceeds from this event will support local scholarships, youth leadership programs, athletic sponsorships, and service initiatives that enrich the lives of young people and families in Hernando and the surrounding area. By participating, runners and walkers become part of a movement that promotes wellness, service, and opportunity for the next generation. If you can't join us, please consider making a donation to help others get opportunities they otherwise would not have.
