From the organizer

Are you ready to Kiss the Goat?

Get ready for an outstanding 1/2 Marathon and 10K trail running event in eastern Kentucky. These trails offers some difficult climbs but with the addition of fast descents and flowy miles. This will be the 4th year of this event and second year with the 1/2 and 10K distances.

The 10K route will be roughly 1250 feet of climbing and the half marathon around 2500 ft of climbing. Runners will do a 6.56 mile loop in each direction for the half marathon, and one lap, with a bit of a short cut for the 10K.

NO DOGS ON COURSE. They are welcome at the facility, but not the race course.

This race is suggested for experienced trail runners/hikers. If you plan to hike, please do the 10K, and make us aware you are hiking.

Race Day:

• All racers will take off at 8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. • Race Location is at the Horse Ring of Perry County Park, Hazard, KY. The address is: 933 Perry Park Road. Parking is at the Horse Ring as well as the Extension office just below Horse Ring Rd. • Pickup begins at 6:30 AM on Saturday and closes at 7:45 AM. • All runners please line up at 7:50 for a pre-race meeting about markings and other needed info.

Course Notes:

• Both courses are full of climbing, technical sections and are fully wooded. Trail shoes are highly recommended.

Cutoff Time:

• For the half marathon runners you must start your second lap before 10:30AM to begin your second loop.

Awards:

• All runners get finisher awards. Top three male and female of both the half marathon and 10K get a podium medal.

GPS:

• Your GPS data will likely vary from others, as well as ours. We mapped this in person, with multiple GIS/GPX software and this is the closest rounded off numbers we have consistently gotten. If you don’t have exactly these numbers don’t freak out, and don’t be surprised. Enjoy the time in the woods, the challenge, and the goats!

Food/Crews/Water:

• We will have some snacks for during and after the run near the start line. Crew is allowed, swapping packs, shoes, shirts, etc. in the start/finish area of each lap is the only acceptable spot for outside support. • We recommend everyone run with water. We will have coolers.

Headphones:

• We allow headphones after the first 4 mins of running (This helps everyone talk and get settled in a bit). • When you approach any volunteers, please take one headphone out or pause your music so you/them can easily communicate. • Please take a headphone out or pause when approaching the start/finish before your next lap.

Litter:

• If you are caught intentionally littering on course, you will be disqualified. We will have a trash can near the start/finish to drop any wrappers, bottles, etc. you need there.
