Run Vibes summary

AI-assisted

At a glance (AI-assisted text)

A delightful 1.3-mile fun run for keiki and families at Honolulu's Kaka`ako Waterfront Park, featuring a wellness fair and school fundraising.

The vibe (AI-assisted text)

This event is all about family fun and community spirit, centered around Honolulu's keiki (children). It's designed to be a joyful, non-competitive experience where kids and their families can enjoy a short run together. The atmosphere will be vibrant and supportive, with a strong emphasis on wellness and active living, attracting local families and school groups looking to give back.

Best for (AI-assisted text)

This run is ideal for families with young children, especially those aged 4-12, looking for a fun and active morning out. It's also perfect for anyone wanting to support local schools and promote physical education and wellness in a beautiful setting.

Race day (AI-assisted text)

Expect a lively morning starting with group warm-ups to get everyone ready. Runners will be released in waves based on age, ensuring a smooth and safe start for all participants. After crossing the finish line, keiki receive a finisher t-shirt and healthy snacks, followed by a bustling Wellness Fair and Active Zone with plenty of kid-friendly activities. The event wraps up by 10:00 AM, making it a perfect family outing.

Personality (AI-assisted text)

The Keiki Rainbow Run radiates a warm, inclusive, and community-focused personality. It's less about speed and more about participation, health, and giving back. The event feels like a friendly neighborhood gathering, encouraging smiles, shared activity, and a positive start to the day.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Taking place in Honolulu in April, expect warm, tropical weather, likely with high humidity. Mornings can be pleasant, but the sun can get intense quickly. There's always a chance of a brief tropical shower, so dressing in light, breathable clothing and staying hydrated will be key.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

The run is set at Kaka`ako Waterfront Park, suggesting a mostly flat course likely on paved paths or well-maintained park trails. Given the family-friendly nature and stroller accessibility, the terrain should be very manageable and smooth for all ages and abilities.

Run History:

Since 2015, we and our community partners have hosted an annual keiki run and raised over $150,000 for school’s P.E. and nutrition programs.

During COVID, the run went virtual and the Keiki Rainbow Wellness Challenge was held.

Since 2023, the event resumed the in-person format and the Keiki Rainbow Run has been held at the scenic Kaka`ako Waterfront Park.

In the summer of 2025, the leadership transitioned from Kaho`omiki to HAHPERD - Hawaii Association of P.E., Recreation and Dance.

The volunteers behind the run are P.E. teachers, youth service providers, kinesiologist, nutritionists, community members and parents – all sharing a vision that keiki be active and healthy.

Refund Policy:

There will be no refunds after March 18, 2026.  If you are not able to attend or if the race is canceled due to inclement weather, your child's entry fee will still be donated to the school you designate during online registration. Adult entry fees will be donated to support next year's event. Your entry may not be transferred to another person without prior approval from the event organizers.

If inclement weather, or other circumstances in the surrounding area, threaten to impact the event, we may need to make a decision on whether to continue as planned or make modifications. There are many conditions that could force us to make a change to the run (i.e., high winds, heavy rain, safety concerns on the course, etc.). Modifications to the event may include delaying the start time, modifying the course, or canceling. Keiki Rainbow Run reserves the right to make modifications to the event at any time, and we exercise this right in order to keep participants, volunteers, spectators, organizers, and public safety officers safe.
