Run Vibes summary

AI-assisted

At a glance (AI-assisted text)

Conquer Idaho's trails with this virtual series, challenging runners to complete multiple ultra or sub-ultra distances for points, custom awards, and bragging rights.

The vibe (AI-assisted text)

This series is all about pushing your limits and embracing the competitive spirit of trail running. It's designed for dedicated runners who thrive on multi-race challenges, aiming to test their endurance, speed, and grit across Idaho's diverse landscapes. Participants are driven by a point system and the chance to earn custom awards, fostering a sense of achievement and friendly rivalry among the trail community. You'll find a field of passionate runners committed to their goals, tackling some truly demanding courses.

Best for (AI-assisted text)

This series is ideal for experienced trail and ultra runners looking for a season-long challenge to motivate their training and racing. It's perfect for those who enjoy setting ambitious goals and are motivated by a competitive points system and unique finisher awards.

Race day (AI-assisted text)

As a virtual series, there isn't a single 'race day' in the traditional sense. Instead, participants will register for and complete various qualifying trail races throughout Idaho, submitting their results to accumulate points. The series itself focuses on tracking your progress and celebrating your cumulative achievements. Expect the individual races you choose to have their own packet pickups and race day logistics, while the series provides the overarching challenge and awards.

Personality (AI-assisted text)

The Idaho Trail Ultra Series has a determined and goal-oriented personality, celebrating the dedication required to complete multiple challenging events. It's a community for runners who appreciate the rugged beauty of trails and the satisfaction of pushing physical and mental boundaries. The atmosphere is one of shared ambition and respect for fellow competitors, all while enjoying the stunning Idaho scenery.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Given this is a series spanning 'across Idaho' and involving 'various race directors,' weather conditions will vary significantly depending on the specific races you choose and their individual dates. Idaho's climate can range from warm and dry in summer to potentially cold and wet in shoulder seasons, especially in mountainous trail environments. Always check the forecast for each individual race you plan to run.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

The series explicitly focuses on 'trail' events, so expect varied off-road terrain. This will likely include dirt paths, rocky sections, roots, and potentially significant elevation changes, typical of challenging ultra and sub-ultra trail races in a mountainous state like Idaho. The description mentions 'amazing views and challenges,' strongly implying demanding and diverse trail conditions.

There are now has 2 series you can join:  1: IDAHO TRAIL ULTRA SERIES (ITUS) - Finish 4 of the ultra distance events (>50K or 31 miles).  For times events and backyard ultra type events finish > 50K; 2: IDAHO TRAIL SERIES (ITS)-  Finish 4 of the sub-ultra distance events (between 10 miles and 30 miles). For times events and backyard ultra type events finish between 10 and 30 miles.

You can join one or both challenges!! Finishers of both series receive a custom award (Ultra Trail Challenge = running jacket and Trail Challenge = hoodie).  For each challenge there will be a point system and the top 6 females and top 6 men win a Dirty Dozen Award. You cannot combine ITUS and ITS races to get your 4 finishes.  You have to complete 4 ITUS events for and ITUS finish and 4 ITS races for a ITS finish.  However, you can do both independently and get both awards!!

The ITUS and ITS both have 10 races races across Idaho from various race directors that offer some of the most amazing views and challenges to test your endurance, speed, and grit.

Points System:

  • You accumulate points based on the distance and finish time of each race.
  • How are ITUS points configured?
    • We divide the winning time by runner time and then multiply by the applicable points for that race (e.g. 31 for 50k)
    • Bonus Points: 1st place -10 points; 2nd place -5 points; 3rd place -3 points. 2nd and 3rd place points are calculated on the formula BEFORE adding the bonus points.
