From the organizer

Celebrate the start of spring at Western Colorado University with the DU Spring Sprint 5K, a fun and welcoming community road race hosted by Delta Upsilon.

This 5K loops around campus and is open to students, community members, runners, and walkers of all ability levels. Whether you’re looking to race, jog, or enjoy a relaxed spring run, this event is a great way to kick off the season in Gunnison

Proceeds from the race will support Delta Upsilon and a charitable cause. Join us for a morning of movement, community, and springtime energy in the Gunnison Valley.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The 5K course consists of two counterclockwise laps on a paved road loop surrounding the Western Colorado University campus.

The race begins on Adams Street. From the start, runners turn right onto Georgia Avenue and continue east. The course then follows Escalante Drive as it curves around the north and east sides of campus. Runners next take a left turn onto North Colorado Street, heading south, followed by another left turn onto East Georgia Avenue, returning toward the start area to complete the lap.

Participants will complete two full laps of this loop before finishing at the original start/finish location.

The course is primarily flat with one main uphill and downhill. This course offers views of the Western Colorado University campus and the surrounding Gunnison Valley. Volunteers and course marshals will be positioned along the route, and limited traffic control will be in place at key intersections. Runners are asked to follow all posted signage and volunteer instructions.
