CAPES For Kids Run

Dust off your favorite cape and lace up your running (or walking) shoes and become a superhero for abused children through CAPES for Kids!

Overview

CAPES for Kids is an annual 5K|10K & Kids Fun Run, held in honor of a 3-year old Carver Elementary School student, who lost her life due to physical abuse and neglect in 2011. Formerly known as the Carver C.A.P. Run, this event strives to honor her life, and the lives of children like her, while also raising awareness and support for victims of child abuse in our local community. All proceeds support quality services at the CARE House of the Pee Dee for children who have been abused and their families.

Event Details

Saturday, May 2nd Briggs Elementary School 1012 Congaree Drive, Florence, SC

Check-In & In-Person Registration : 7:00 AM - 7:45 AM 5K & 10K Race Start Time: 8:00 AM Kid's Fun Run: 9:30 AM

The 5K & 10K courses begin at Briggs Elementary School at 8:00 AM. Timing provided by Simply Timing. All participants are encouraged to arrive to the race early to allow time for parking. If you plan to register and/or need to pick up your race packet on race day, please plan to arrive by 7:00 AM.

The Kids Fun Run will begin at 9:30 AM. Participants will have the option to complete a short loop or a 1-mile loop. These events will not be timed.

Come dressed as your favorite superhero and enter our Costume Contest! Prizes will be awarded in individual and family/group categories. Stay tuned for more details!

Pricing & Registration EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION OPEN THROUGH March 31, 2026 5K: $35.00 10K: $40.00

LATE RACE REGISTRATION: April 1, 2025 - May 2, 2026 5K: $40.00 10K: $45.00 *Register before Thursday, April 10th to guarantee a Race T-Shirt

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION WILL BE HELD DURING PACKET PICK-UP & ON RACE DAY. 5K: $45.00 10K: $50.00

KIDS FUN RUN With Shirt: $20.00 Without Shirt: $5.00

Packet Pick-Up We strongly encourage all participants to pick-up their race packets during Packet Pick-Up if possible. When: Friday, May 2nd 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Where: The CARE House of the Pee Dee, 1920 Second Loop Road, Florence, SC 29501

Awards All awards are based on gun time recorded by Simply Timing.

AGE GROUP WINNERS Age Groups: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ Participants who place in the top three in their age group will receive a medal. Age groups are separated by gender.

*Please note if you place Overall, you will not also be awarded for your age group. Pets Well socialized and friendly dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash and under supervision and control of owners at all times. Owners are responsible for animal behavior and clean up. Reactive or dangerous animals will be asked to leave.
