You'll find a bustling scene with options for timed or untimed participation, accommodating both competitive runners and casual walkers. Expect a supportive crowd, especially around 'Memory Lane' and the Mental Health Fair, which are central to the event's purpose. Post-race, enjoy refreshing treats like watermelon, bananas, and sno-cones, fostering a relaxed, communal atmosphere.

Best for (AI-assisted text)

This event is perfect for runners seeking a challenging trail 5K with a strong sense of purpose. It's also ideal for walkers and families who want to participate in a meaningful community event, enjoy a scenic route, and support suicide awareness. If you appreciate events that combine athletic effort with significant social impact, this is for you.

Personality (AI-assisted text)

The Bluebird Run carries a deeply compassionate and community-focused personality, balancing the joy of movement with a poignant mission. It feels like a supportive embrace, where shared experience and remembrance create a powerful bond among participants. There's a welcoming, inclusive social texture, encouraging everyone from seasoned athletes to those simply walking in memory of a loved one. It's an event that leaves a lasting emotional impression, fostering connection and hope.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Held in Tallahassee, FL, on Labor Day (early September), expect warm and humid conditions. Mornings can still be quite muggy, so hydration will be key, and temperatures will likely rise quickly after sunrise. While rain isn't uncommon in Florida during this season, it's more likely to be a pop-up shower than an all-day event. Dress in light, breathable clothing and prepare for a warm effort.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

The 5K is explicitly described as a 'trail course' and 'one of the most beautiful and challenging in Tallahassee,' suggesting varied surfaces like dirt, gravel, or packed earth, potentially with roots or rocks. It uses 'wide multi-use trails' through a greenway, indicating it's not overly technical but will have natural undulations and possibly significant climbs given the 'challenging' label. The 1 Mile Fun Run features an 'out-and-back canopy trail' and crosses a 'Canopy Bridge,' implying a smoother, possibly paved or well-maintained path, likely with some elevation change for the bridge crossing.

Remember all the hugs and handshakes you’ve had on Labor Day mornings since 2015 at the Bluebird Run and Walk for Brookie B? Let’s do it again. If you’ve just found out about us, you don’t want to miss this.

Our 5K trail course is one of the most beautiful and challenging in Tallahassee. Wide multi-use trails make a loop through the greenway, starting and ending at the trailhead. Past participants have said, “You’ll never forget your first Bluebird.”

Our 1 Mile Fun Run course is unique with an out-and-back canopy trail that crosses the Lafayette Heritage Canopy Bridge. A treat for runners and walkers alike, there is a water station at the turnaround on the other side of the bridge.

A huge tent with party lights will welcome you to the greenway as registration begins at 7:00 am. There will be sports drinks, bottled water, watermelon, bananas and an assortment of treats including sno-cones. Be sure to visit Memory Lane, a tribute to all the loved ones we have lost to suicide. Our Mental Health Fair will give you the opportunity to receive information from many of our local mental health care providers. Bluebird is both a fun athletic event and an outstanding community event for suicide awareness and prevention.

We expect to have a lot of walkers in this event, so we are offering entry fees both with and without timing. If you want to record an official time you will receive a race bib. If you do not want to record an official time you will not receive a race bib.

Please be sure to visit our website at www.BluebirdRun.com to discover more about this unique event and its purpose.
