Race day (AI-assisted text)

Expect a relaxed and inclusive race day, kicking off after a day of park restoration and cleanup. Packet pickup will likely be straightforward, with a friendly crowd of runners, joggers, walkers, and families. The focus is on collective momentum and enjoyment, rather than intense competition, as you cross the finish line together at the boathouse.

The event has a warm, responsible, and celebratory personality, emphasizing collective action and community spirit. It's less about personal bests and more about showing up for the planet and enjoying a shared experience. The tone is inviting and encouraging, fostering a sense of connection among participants.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Held in April in Chicago, you can expect variable spring weather. It could be cool and crisp, mild and sunny, or potentially rainy. Layers are always a good idea for spring races in the Midwest, allowing you to adjust to changing conditions.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

The race features a clearly marked 5K course through Humboldt Park. Given it's a city park, the terrain is highly likely to be paved paths, generally flat or with very gentle undulations, making it accessible for all abilities.
