It's perfect if you value community and a gradual approach to fitness, with the goal of completing a race or improving your personal best.

Race day (AI-assisted text)

Expect a friendly kickoff meeting to get acquainted with your fellow runners and leaders, followed by structured training sessions throughout the week. The focus will be on the run/walk method, gradually building endurance over 15 weeks. You'll meet regularly at Marathon Park and Briggs YMCA, fostering a consistent routine and camaraderie with your group as you work towards the Capital City 5 Mile Race.

Weather snapshot (AI-assisted text)

Starting in February and running through May in Olympia, WA, expect a mix of weather conditions. Early sessions will likely be cool and potentially wet, typical for late winter/early spring in the Pacific Northwest. As the program progresses into spring, you can anticipate milder temperatures, though rain showers are always a possibility.

Terrain & course feel (AI-assisted text)

Training sessions will take place at Marathon Park and Briggs YMCA. This suggests a mix of paved paths, sidewalks, and possibly a track or open park grounds. Given the 'Couch to 5 Mile' nature, the terrain is likely to be relatively flat and accessible, suitable for beginners using a run/walk method.
